I took the summer off from writing because it had become more of a chore then an enjoyable experience. Now that some time has passed, I hope to share some of my life with you again.

Everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Today I watched one of those videos with of all the different soldiers coming home and surprising their loved ones...holy cow. I mean my kids go wild when Nick gets home from work... I think they genuinely miss him during the day...I can't imagine what it must be like for those kids.

The dictator woke up this morning and gave me so many orders at one time that I decided to walk out of her room and try for a do-over.
Wouldn't it be great if you got a mulligan a day...just for those really big mess-ups...

 - Like when you send your second grader to school with the remnants of yesterdays lunch in her lunch sack
- or like when you take your pre k 4 out of the bathtub and realize, after her pj's are on, that you forgot to rinse the conditioner out of her hair
- or like when you "wash" all of the clothes in the machine without any detergent...which is actually just excessively wetting.
Not that any of these things actually happened...today.

My very sweet, child-free neighbor came in my house the other day unannounced - shockingly no one heard her knocking or calling from the door.

When I pulled my head out of the pantry, I saw her innocently standing there in the kitchen...

The first and only thing I could think was, "Holy shit...what did she hear???"

There must be something wrong with that...

  1. Dude, that sweet, child-free neighbor sounds spooky! :)

I promise I knocked, rang the door bell, AND shouted out from the door, but since nothing happened for a few minutes (Ok, probably more like a full minute) I came in loudly asking the kiddos where Mommy was- in an effort to NOT startle you. Oops, I guess to no avail. Btw, I think your pantry's a noise proof tunnel. Hey, that might come in handy from time to time.

Next time if you don't hear the door bell ringing and door pounding, I'll just call and hope that your cordless is not in the drain. :)

  4. You can come in without knocking or ringing or calling as long as you promise you won't be shocked by what you may hear, or see, for that matter!
